Tax by fiat.

It was just a matter of time, and was predicted by many and unsurprising at that: The Obama administration, via the Environmental Protection Agency, has by fiat declared carbon dioxide a pollutant, dictating (through unelected EPA bureaucrats, mind you) that CO2 “threaten[s] the public health and welfare of current and future generations.” Wow. Who’s arrogant [...]

Intel, not confessions.

The subject of harsh interrogations and what constitutes torture is back in the media spotlight. That Democrats had no qualms with the tactics and full and complicit knowledge is another post. Here, however, lies the point: The cited interrogations (in 2002 and 2003) weren’t done for confessions, or to lead to trials, but to gain [...]

Iranian response to Obama’s olive branch.

BEIRUT — Roxana Saberi, a 31-year-old Iranian-American journalist, was convicted of spying and sentenced to eight years in prison on Saturday by Iran’s Revolutionary Court. Ms. Saberi, a former American beauty queen, has been in detention in Tehran’s notorious Evin prison since Jan. 31. She was charged with espionage earlier this month and tried this [...]

HopeNChange Means More Crooks.

Yep, President Obama’s “Car Czar” is involved in a pay-for-play scheme. Oh, but none dare call it a bribe… [WSJ] Steven Rattner, the leader of the Obama administration’s auto task force, was one of the executives involved with payments under scrutiny in a probe of an alleged kickback scheme at New York state’s pension fund, [...]

Oh those distractions!

Mark Steyn, funny as usual: Tom Blumer of Newsbusters notes that in the last 30 days there have been some 2,500 stories featuring Obama and “distractions,” as opposed to about 800 “distractions” for Bush in his entire second term. The sub-headline of the Reuters story suggests the unprecedented pace at which the mountain of distractions [...]

The footage CNN didn’t show.

The mainstream media chose to address the Tea Party tax protests in one of two ways: They either found the most extreme viewpoint and portrayed it as representative, or they just didn’t bother to cover it at all. The arrogance and hypocrisy is typical Big Media. John McCormack points out the same condescending CNN reporter [...]

Keep bowing, Mr. President.

Saudi Arabia, modern-day: A man finds his daughter exchanging messages with a male friend on Facebook and murders her. A young woman caught sitting in a car with a man who is not her relative gets gang-raped, is then sentenced to 90 lashes (or 200, depending on which news report you read) for having appeared [...]

Liberal tolerance, except when it’s not.

Here’s James Taranto with some witty point regarding Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano’s memo warning of “right-wing terrorism.” “The Department of Homeland Security is warning law enforcement officials about a rise in ‘rightwing extremist activity,’ saying the economic recession, the election of America’s first black president and the return of a few disgruntled war veterans [...]

Oh that media bias.

I’m a bit late on the whole Obama bowed to the Saudis thing. And yes, it was a bow. And yes, the White House lies about it not being a bow to this day. And yes, one of the points of the American Revolution was that no man had to again bow to aristocracy. And [...]
